LAMS liposuction stands for Local Anaesthetic Minimally Invasive Liposuction. This technique originated in South Korea and utilises local anesthesia to perform liposuction in a minimally invasive manner. The process involves using a syringe to inject anesthesia into specific areas of the body, followed by another syringe to remove the fat.
According to Dr Ivan Puah, a Ministry of Health-accredited liposuction doctor in Singapore with over 20 years of experience in body sculpting and liposuction, “The unique aspect of LAMS liposuction is that patients REMAIN FULLY AWAKE AND FULLY AWARE throughout the liposuction procedure.”
The aim of LAMS liposuction is to reduce the possible risks associated with anaesthesia and make the surgery less invasive.
One significant difference with LAMS liposuction is the absence of intravenous sedation during the surgery, unlike other types of liposuction that require anaesthesia.
