Many men experience changes in fat distribution as they get older, often noticing that they gain weight more quickly. After 35 years old, this weight is typically deposited disproportionately in the midsection, especially around the abdomen, commonly known as “beer belly.” There are several reasons that contribute to these changes.
Typically, body fat is stored in the subcutaneous layer, the superficial fat that can be pinched. However, as we age and gain weight, fat is more likely to accumulate as visceral fat, which surrounds internal organs and is often not noticeable to the touch. This type of fat can sometimes lead to what is commonly referred to as a “beer belly.”
Visceral fat is harmful to health as it increases the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, and other medical conditions. So, what can men do about excessive fat accumulation, especially around the abdomen, waist, and chest? Listen to the details in my podcast.
Liposuction is the only clinically proven method to effectively reduce abdominal fat for those who have tried non-surgical methods without achieving the desired outcome.
For some patients with specific body sizes and shapes, performing liposuction solely on the tummy without a comprehensive 360-degree approach may lead to disproportionate results and less desirable contouring. Taking a 360-degree approach — including the abdomen, flanks, and lower back — often yields better results by reducing waist circumference and improving the overall shape of the torso.
For some with a decent BMI and fat level, I recommend 4D liposuction. This technique removes both superficial and deep layers of fat while enhancing the visibility of underlying muscle tone and structure.
My goal is to perform high-definition sculpting to bring out your best features, ensuring that the results look natural regardless of any weight gain or loss in the future.
